Good bye GST, Hello EVO
Has anyone ever told you that you were born to drive a certain type of car?For me, I am born to drive the Evo. Switching from a high horsepower FWD to a high horsepower AWD platform felt like a night/day change.
I have to say that it is unfair to compare the Evo to a DSM (my older car is a 98 GS-T), and here are some of the reasons.
Evo Pluses
1) Quick steering ratio
2) Stiffer chassis response
3) AWD equipped with ACD
4) Twin Scroll Turbo with MIVEC
5) Suprior OEM Bilstein Suspension
6) Huggy seats (thank you Recaro)
7) More head room!
8) Back end actually comes out under varies conditions
It is just not a fair comparison, and I cannot find anyway to out-run the Evo with my older pride and joy: the Eclipse. Out of the turn, you can get on the gas earlier with the Evo. Not only is there more traction, there's also more torque down low with the MIVEC and the twin scroll turbo. The turn in is faster and more accurate, and the best of all (THERE IS HEAD ROOM!).
The only adventage I have found currently is the fact that the GS-T can go on a diet better than the Evo. Strange to acknowledge it, but the Evo does feel like a boat...just a little bit.
There're still more lessons to be learned on the new car, but gotta take it baby steps at a time.
